no sleep for anyone

[Anonymous]

hi everyone, i’m new here and needing some advice on sleep issues…
Finn is 3 mos with reflux. he’s off all meds while i do a dairy/soy-free diet.–well, actually–i did get the gi specialist to prescribe prevacid (because a week into the diet there was no improvement), but we haven’t got it yet.
my problem is that finn is awake all night. writhing in pain, squirming and quietly (and sometimes loudly) sobbing.
He starts off sleeping elevated and swaddled in the co-sleeper. After the first feeding, he usually ends up sleeping on one of our chests for the rest of the night. I fall asleep when he does, but he’s up and feeding or in pain every hour and a half.
I’m about to completely lose it. no sleep in the day either…or rarely. is it just that we need a ppi? have most of you found that sleep improves when the ppi kicks in?
i am like a vegetable with no brain during the day…just a feeding machine.
any advice?…please?
thanks!

I would go with the meds even though you are doing the TED. After you get things under control you could try to wean meds while still doing TED and see how it goes. I know that we changed formula and started meds all at the same time and many of us have done that and never really know what actually did the trick. Also do whatever you have to to get some sleep. Cooper used to sleep with dh in the recliner so that we could get more than 2 hrs at a time. I will say that our sleep didn’t get really good until he was alittle over a year old. Now he sleeps from 11-12 hrs a night without a peep. But he also woke up until he was 10 months old at night to have a feeding. I thought for awhile that I would be feeding him in the middle of the night when he was 5!! HUGS to you and I hope you get some relief soon.
