Started this on Friday. Alex took it well when mixed with pear or white grape juice. Only problem I encountered and had to stop it because she was throwing up consisitantly after every feed more than she usually does and more frequently. I went back to her Enfacare Lipil for prematurity and the vomiting seems to be better. Have any of ya’ll encountered this in the past with the increased vomiting??? It seems like things got worse instead of better.
Owen did this same exact thing. We only gave it to him twice and both times he projectile vomited. Have you tried Alimentum? Owen did much better with that.
So when you switched to the Alimentum did the vomiting decrease? My main reason for switching to this type of product was the delayed emptying and then the refusal to eat because she was staying so full and gagging so much. She was not vomiting much on the enfacare. I thought if I changed to a hydrolized protein it would be easier for her to digest and the increase emptying. I did notice she seemed hungrier and did not refuse to eat – she even took the bottle the first time it was offered to her but she started with the projectile vomiting and it was frequent with the change. Since switching her back to the Enfacare she has had no more vomiting but now waiting for the bottle refusal to start again.
I had to thicken up the nutramigen too, but we use barley and simply thick. We switched from neocate to nutramigen and my daughter spit up more while she was getting used to it, but it stopped after a couple weeks. All I can say is that those hypoallergenic formulas really smell horrible, like cheese!
Owen would throw up the nutramigen but didn’t with the alimentum at all. He seriously projectile vomited everything after having nutramigen but had none of those issues with the alimentum.
