InactiveOk ladies, I am sure that you all have most likely read my other post about my principal, but now I have another thing that I need your advice on……….
When I received the email from my principal about not completing the math goals for one of my students (which I admit I made the mistake, but had other things on my mind), he had stated that he noticed that I had not completed a few more and that he expected them to get done, well I went on our server that has our IEP forms on to see if he accessed it. See when you log onto the server, then onto a students’ IEP, you are able to see who accessed it. Does this make sense?
So I looked…….and behold, the only person who accessed it on the day that he said he checked it was a colleague of mine (whom I had thought was a good friend of mine). The principal does not even have the access codes to get in because if he did then I would have seen his name in the box. Anyways, what I feel is betrayal because my thought is that if you have a good friend whom you may know is going to be blind sided, you would tell them. Case in point, when I was working in another school district (which I have only worked in 2), the principal was on a rampage for some reason and was coming after me (for something I can not remember, it was so long ago), so my friend who had found out about it before it happened came and told me what was about to happen because she said that she would not want me to be blind-sided.
Now, to me, that is a true friend…..she let me know so that I could have a heads up. This other one, which I am sure the principal had told her to do it, but she could have let me know about it. I would really like to confront her with it, but I have decided that I would not because it is a waste of my time…and now that I have gotten burnt, she will no longer get any help from me.
And I guess the other thing that pisses me off is that she has been only teaching for 3 years now and I have been teaching for 16 years, where’s the loyalty?
What do you ladies think?

InactiveOh, tough one! Unloyal friends…a huge pet peeve and annoyance of mine. Can you be totally sure that it was your friend who told the principal or could he have looked at it on a different day? I would talk to your friend about it personally. Sometimes there is a big misunderstanding and maybe she didn’t know after all?
I don’t know though…that is really hard now that a friend is thrown in the middle of it all! Good luck and I hope you get it worked out!April 24, 2007 at 7:45 pm #31368Anonymous
InactiveOh my gosh…I am in the SAME boat but unfortunately I am the “bad friend”. I knew about a situation at school and was approached by my Superintendent and Principal…gave them the information they requested…and sat back waiting for the sh#* to hit the fan. I didn’t know what else to do! I was NOT in a position to make any decisions regarding the information and this person is very STRONG willed so I knew I couldn’t “confidentially” tell her what was happening without my administrators knowing I had said something…so I did NOTHING. Now that it is out in the open I am being outcast by her and now several of her “friends” at school. It’s awful.
I was put in an awkward position and it’s not fair. However, I was NOT “good” friends with this teacher…just friendly acquaintences and I did NOT have any ill intentions behind delivering the information (I was just the only person in possession of it). I don’t know if this helps at all…but maybe there is a little more to the situation and you should talk to her. I WISH my co worker would have talked to me from the beginning so I could have explained all that to her instead of her letting it fester and brew and get more and more angry with me as time has gone by. Does that make sense?

InactiveThanks and I do understand what you ladies said…….but right now I am really hurt. And just last year my husband and I were going through some financial difficulties and she knew all about it and stood right by me keeping my from going down hill. Then she found out that there was a fellow colleague who had found out that our house was up for Sherrif’s Auction (which we had no clue and luckily found out by a fluke and was able to stop it; bank was trying to take the house under our feet). The colleague then started rumors that another teacher was going to buy my house and we were going to rent it from him……and she told me a few other things that was said…..and she said she said that because she did not want me to find out from another people in the school.
So this is why I trusted her………I know this is a different situation, but maybe I expected too much and I guess maybe I am just too sentimental about friendship.
I understand that the world is like this…..that you are to look out for number one, yourself, but that is not how I am raising my children because I feel that you need to have loyalty and compassion for others…….to me if you do not then that is selfish on your part. I guess that is just the type of person I am…..if you are a friend of mine, I will look out for you no matter what.

InactiveI do completely understand why you are hurt…as I understand why my co worker is upset with me. What I was trying to convey was that maybe she was put in a bad position and didn’t do it to intentionally hurt you?? I know that I have been sick about my situation and the distress it has caused everyone. Your situation is different than mine because this was a true friend who betrayed you. I hope that you are able to communicate your feelings to her and that things can be sorted out. Good luck!

InactiveI hope you can get it worked out. It always is so painful when a friend betrays you. Plus, all the added stress in your life bc of it. I hope somehow things can be fixed and your friend comes to you and apologizes.
