yup, the famotidine= pepcid (H2 blocker); the other ingredients are basically the same ones in Mylanta but at higher concentrations= acid neutralizer. The neutralizers work on any acid immediately, and then the H2 blocker works as you would expect.
Last night was from hell over here, so I don’t think it worked for her.
Natalia, how are you able to space in the 3 doses of prevacid, and then wait a few hours to space the pepcid as well?
ive been doing 2 doses of prevacid since 8 months old, and he was fine with it. also, i sometimes give the pepcid 3 hours after the prevacid, not the full 4, and its been fine! im sorry it didnt work for you Lori 🙁
its been helping Trace so much! i forgot it two nights ago and he was up every hour!

InactiveGlad it’s working for you Natalia! We’ve been doing prevacid in one pm dose for about 3 months. I thought that I was giving 24-30mg, but just realized that she’s actually only been getting 15mg or so a day. BAD math (bad mommy?
)….. The good news is that her eating and sleeping have been no better or no worse since decreasing the dose, so we’ll probably just stay at the 15mg before bed, or I might try the 30mg in one dose the next time I prepare her CaraCream (I’ll make it more concentrated) and see if that helps. If not, then we’ll for sure just stay with the 15mg. She’s a happy little girl for the most part, except for the reflux, and whatever plagues her at night. I guess as far as the eating/sleeping go, she’s pretty bad in both these departments, so I figure we can only go up from here. I think the reason that the pepcid didn’t work was because the only way I could time things was to give her prevacid in the am, and the pepcid at night. We gave a whole solutab in the morning b/c she won’t swallow liquids or take meds before around noon… her oral aversion is much worse in the morning. I think that she was chewing the solutab, and also I couldn’t get her to eat enough at the 30 minute mark (she’d MAYBE eat a few pieces of cereal). So the bad night was probably due to the lack of prevacid. The first night we tried this combo, she only woke up once all night.
OH OH, there she is calling me now….

InactiveI e-mailed Dr. Phillips about this as well and he told me I could give Brianna a whole tablet, but to split it up throughout the day. She has half before her nap and then half before bed.
