Vanessa, I do believe you have seen pictures of Quinn’s g-tube before, but I think she has what Kendra has, the peg. Soon we will be getting the mickey button. That is cool that you are getting the button placed right away, I’ve heard of it, but Q didn’t have it this way. Here’s a picture of her tube.
This was taken right after her surgery. She isn’t looking too hot and she is incredibly bloated all around from the IV fluids.

It seems difficult to have the tube taped down all the time on their tummy. I wanted to get rid of tape!! LOL i am sick of tape and duoderm! They might wait like they did with Quinn to do the mic-key. I saw a pic of another button that looks a little smaller than a mic-key, it was called like a cubby I am going to mention this to the surgeon.
Sarah has Quinn tried tugging on the tube?????
May 31, 2007 at 9:49 am #35080AnonymousInactiveGood luck. Keep us posted.

It’s kinda cute to see her look down at her belly with a confused look on her face. She doesn’t seem to care about it anymore, she just doesn’t like waiting for me to redress it and she hates the tape getting peeled off, although she has gotten very used to that too. The only thing that really worries me is in the bathtub. She likes to play and well, you can’t have the tape on in the bathtub, at least not the kind of tape we have and it hangs down so far that i’m so scared that she will step on it, so because of this I’ve been cutting her bath time short. She hates that. Quinn has always liked bath time. Ever since she was a newborn. She has never EVER cried during her baths. She LOVES them, and normally I let her play, but I’ve been taking her out within about 7 minutes because I’m too scared that she will pull out the tube.

Works especially well for the bath because the tube is not hanging. During bath, i would just lift it and pour water under the disc of the tube to clean it and would change the netting to a dry one after bath. It is non-irritating, comes in different sizes and you can cut as big/small a piece as you want.
June 1, 2007 at 3:41 am #35203AnonymousInactivehmmmm… Quinn has a net that goes around her waist to help hold the tube in place. It does help a little, but we still need the tape. Spandage sounds nice if no tape is needed. we only got one netting… and it only provides minimal help. Vanessa, I do hope you go prepared for Cassie’s g-tube surgery. Surely ask about the spandage and about the tape that Kendra’s mom suggested. I’m sure they would be much more handy than what Q was discharged with.

June 1, 2007 at 8:14 am #35209AnonymousInactiveWe got the Spandage, but it doesn’t hold up very good. the minute she starts wigglying it kind of find its way down. Also the clamp on the tube seems to bother her when we use the spandage b/c as she moves it presses gainst her tummy.
The tape has worked better for us. It won’t hurt to try both. anyhting to help your LO. It worked well for Thais, maybe it will work good for you too. Good luck

Here’s some pics of Kendra’s peg. Sarah, we can see the tape here. hope that helps Vanessa.

For Matthew, we cut a piece that covered him from chest to under his diapers and never had an issue with it falling out??!!! guess we were lucky. hated that taping with the NG!!
Leo – we also had the clamp and yes, it left some marks on Matthew from the pressure of the tape against it but we never really worried about that one. Also — how are you folding the tube inside the net? The best way is just to spiral it around the tube site itself although we stopped doing this earlyon because Matthew would only get night feeds at one point and it was a pain to undo the spiral while he was sleeping!!
