Nathan’s reflux truly seems so much better lately. He’s also been eating more solids, although still very little variety (mostly yogurt, toast & some fruits). His formula intake has really decreased a lot, and we recently went to 3 bottles a day, since he was taking so little at each feeding. It was almost too easy dropping that mid-morning bottle. I was hoping he’d take more at each bottle b/c I think I was feeding him too frequently. He IS taking marginally more at each bottle, though the total intake is reduced (about 12-14oz per day). Here is his current schedule:
6-6:30a Wake
6:30-7a Bottle #1 (offer 7oz, usually takes 4-5oz)
8:30a Breakfast
10:00a Nap
12:00 Lunch
2:00p Nap
3:30p Bottle #2 (offer 7oz, usually takes 5-7oz)
5:30-6p Dinner
8p Bottle #3/Bed (offer 5oz)
Problem is, he’s been refusing the last bottle lately, or taking only ~2oz. I think he’s still full from dinner. Last night I offered him formula in a sippy with dinner instead of water. He took only 2oz, and then refused a bottle at bedtime (I knew he would, dinner was particularly late last night).
Is it time to stop worrying about his formula (soon-to-be-milk) intake? Should I just drop the bedtime bottle, since he never seems to want it anyway? Am I ‘lucky’ that he’s not attached to the bottle? His 1yr check up isn’t for another 2 weeks, and it’s with a new ped (we moved) so I won’t get a ‘professional’ opinion until then.
EDITED TO ADD: Well, he basically just refused his afternoon bottle. He took 2 oz. I really think I could drop all bottles and he would be fine with that. If he would drink more than 2-3oz (of anything) out of a sippy, I think I’d feel much better about this. Instead it just frustrates me.
