Hi everyone!! I just wanted to know how long your childrens’ Sandifers episodes last for.
Our little girl Turi, is seven months old now, has never been diagnosed by our Ped for Sandifers, but by finding this website, and ALL the awesome information you have all posted, it got the ball rolling and we are 100% sure that she has Sandifers. She probably had it since the day she was born. We have a Dr who lives down the street who has seen her have these episodes, and he’s treated Sandifer’s babies, and he told us without a doubt that’s what she has. But yet our own Dr just wont seem to do the tests or whatever needed to actually diagnose her. We’ve brought in video’s, and yet all they want to do is run more tests. Anyways, our Dr down the street told me that I could use Zantac and Gaviscon, so that’s what I do when I see that an episode could be starting. But I was just wondering about a few things. When Turi has her attack, she arches her back, and her jaw clenches, and its like she stops breathing for a few seconds. However, she has these, what I call, Bronco Spasm attacks, that sound like the hiccup or sneeze, and even though her initial attack is over, this breathing thing lasts for usually about 5-8 hours afterwards. Plus she is always trying to catch her breath, you know, how we do after a good cry?? 🙂 So what I was wondering, does anyone else experience these ‘noises’, and if so, how long do they last for?? I always sleep with her just to make sure that she’s ok, and she is always 100% the next day. She also usually only has them in the evenings, but they are sometimes 3, or 4 or 5 weeks apart. Its not that frequent, but I cannot find ANYTHING that would link these attacks to anything she ate, drank, etc. She used to be alot worse when she was younger, crazy hiccups all the time, and major projectile vomiting, she however didnt have her first ‘real’ episode till she was 6 weeks old, and then ended up in the hospital for four days. I find it so hard to watch her go through this. But yet, she seems to be handling it quite well, although what difference does she know of? So, I would just really like to know how long your childrens attacks last for, and if you experience these ‘breathing’ noises also. I plan on going back to our Ped and pretty much demanding that they do the PH test on her so that they can properly diagnose her with Sandifer’s for once and for all, and in the meantime, I’ll just keep the Zantac and Gaviscon liquid close by!!!Thank you for all your help, you should all be very proud of yourselves for giving so much help to each other….I am very proud to tell people of this site, and that this is where I found out what was wrong with Turi. YOU ALL ROCK!!! 🙂
