are you giving the prevacid on an empty stomach followed by a meal 30-60 min later? The purple is the undigested medicine.. which makes me think he isn’t getting the dose properly. Please look under Laura’s groupie intro in the introduce yourself section it has tons of great information there is a prevacid 101 section that talks all about the medicine as well.
If they vomit before the med has a chance to be absorbed, but has been partially broken down by the stomach acid, then the spit up can be purple or purple pink colour, or even purple brown. But, blood can also be purple-red colour or purple brown, so if it looks like blood, then best to show it to the doc. In our case, it was the prevacid. I know that others have had this experience as well.
Hi, I have the same experience here, I give my daughter prevacid, and she threw up sometimes, maybe 3 hours after feeding, and its brownish color, she’s not in pain etc. Is this normal?
I give her prevacid in the morning, 30 minutes before her first meal. Thanks!
