InactiveCan anyone tell me if they’ve heard of Prevacid not working?? It’s been 2 weeks and I feel like I see no improvement. We are on 15 mg solutabs, 7.5 mg X2 (I snuck 22.5 mg the past 3 days). I am giving the solutab and following up 30 mins. later with a full feeding. She is still fussing constantly. In fact, this morning was total back arching, lip smacking and screaming in pain 1/2 hour after feeding. ANyone heard of this???!! I am also trying TED in my diet, although I don’t really suspect an MSPI b/c there are no allergy signs. Is that naive?? I am clueless.

Inactivei would start with eliminating ALL DAIRY AND SOY. give this a few weeks.my son was on the highest dose of zegerid and did ok for about 2 weeks…then the hell started again. at this point he was already on alimentum. i really did NOT think he needed neocate, but i decided to try it for the heck of it. within a day, his symptoms subsided.
i would also check her dose at marci kids.com. i would try the marci kids dose for her. at this point you should have seen some improvement, so i think if could be your diet needs to be changed, she needs a med increase, or a combination of each.
FTR-there are also intolerances besides allergies. my son does not show any classic allergy signs, but he is intolerant to milk/soy (his reflux flairs like crazy) and wheat/gluten (he gets irritable and sleeps poorly)
HTH!

InactiveMyles was completely miserable until he was on the marci-kids dose which for him at the time was 10mg / 3 times per day. He had been on Prevacid for weeks with no improvement because the dose was too low.
I’d try to get her on whatever dose marci-kids reccommends for her age and weight and do a very strict TED for a few weeks.

InactiveI’d be tempted to do the marci-kids max dose for a full two weeks. If still no improvement then do TED. We did formula and med changes at the same time and when Alana improved where never really sure if she had reflux and/or intollerances.

InactiveI agree with the above posts- I think the higher dose may have to be given for 2 weeks before seeing much improvement. I also would stop all soy/milk. When I started I was eating only chicken, rice and fruits and veges. I did this for 2–3 weeks then started to add foods.
It is a horrible road to have to go down. Be strong and I wish you luck!

InactiveIf you haven’t seen any improvement after two weeks, I’d also try the marci-kids dose for two weeks and see if that helps. Then, if that doesn’t do it, then I’d try to eliminate the soy and dairy. If you do them both together you won’t know what caused the improvement. Our ped GI swears that he’s seen kids with severe intolerances who have no symptoms other than reflux, irritability, and constipation (and not always even all of them). So it is possible. Good luck.

InactiveAnother possibility is that I remember reading that it can be very hard to give the prevacid properly to such a young baby, because for some they feed so often that the stomach is never really empty. I believe it was marci-kids that said this, which is why they recommend immediate release PPI like zegerid. But, that being said, many babies have done well on prevacid, so I’d try the dose increase, then the diet, and then if that doesn’t work, then I’d try a new med altogether.
