prevacid day of upper GI

First I want to thank everyone who responds to my questions!

Second – were you allowed to give prevacid the morning of an upper GI?

Honestly I don’t remember, so I’m no help, but I do want to say good luck!!!

Kaelyn was still on zantac at the time of her upper GI, but she was allowed to take it that day. They are looking at the physical makeup so the meds shouldn’t matter IMHO. It is the pH probe when the meds can make a difference because they can change the results.

i heard the medicine has no effect on the test…

Hailey was still on her losec during the UGI. I asked specifically, and they said it’s fine to give the meds, though they did say ideally not right before the test (though I don’t know why). As the others said, it’s looking at structures, and there’s no sedation involved so it shouldn’t matter.
