I just had to get this out!

My DD has been suffering from reflux since she was 2 weeks old. It has been hell. We FINALLY saw a GI last week, who scheduled us for an endoscopy for next week. He also told us to stop her prevacid to see if it really was making a difference. Well, after several nights and days of screaming, crying, whining, moaning, and NO SLEEPING we caved and gave her the prevacid last night. She ended up sleeping from ~6-3:30, woke up to nurse, went right back to sleep and slept until 7 this morning! And she woke up this morning smiling, laughing, giggling, just happy! So yes! We think the prevacid IS helping, and we just now need to figure out the right dose for her. I am so relieved to realize that I’m not crazy! haha And most of all I’m so happy that we all slept last night!

SWEET! That is so awesome!

I’m with you. Prevacid is doing wonders for my kid. Now that the dairy is out of our systems and we’re taking the right amount of medicine, things are on the up and up. Dare I say, most of April??!!

Hope you continue to have a sleeping, happy, pain-free baby!

How much prevacid is she on and how long did it take initially to see a difference when starting prevacid?

We had a rocky start. The original dosage was 7.5mg a day and that lasted only one week. We bumped up to 15mg a day…I hold the pill in the inside of her cheek so that I know she gets all of it.

It will take a good two weeks to see results. Hang in there! For us, we had to keep upping the dosage because Jaya was gaining weight so fast. Because she is also milk and soy protein intolerant also, it took a whole month before the constant crying stopped. I have to say that March was hell but then April and everyday after has been pretty sweet. Occassionally, we’ll have a tough day but it is nothing compared to how we started.

Best of luck to you and Landon! I trust that you read about giving the prevacid on an empty stomach and then feeding him 30 minutes after administering it? That is key! I didn’t know that at first…
