Prevacid Dosage Increase

How long should it take to see an improvement when you increase the dose of prevacid. We just increased the dose for our ds 2 days ago, and haven’t seen any real improvement yet…..we increased it from 15 mg to 22.5 mg. Just wondering what everyone’s experience is with this, I’m getting frustrated because with his silent reflux I can never tell 100% if that is what is bothering him. He shows alot of signs of it, but he is also teething. ARGH

Most moms here say it takes two weeks…a long time to wait, I know. My son improved more quickly when we raised his dose. There was some improvment in about a week, but it was about 10 days before I knew for sure it was working.

I know it’s very frustrating Hang in there.

I didn’t think it would be that long…….since I am just increasing the dose and he already has some in his system. ……….its going to be a long 10 days!!!!

I’m sorry..I know how miserable it is. There will probably be some improvement sooner since he was already getting some Prevacid. Have you tried Mylanta Cherry Supreme? Lots of moms here say it helps. You can post a question about it…I don’t know the dosage info for it.

Are you giving it on an empty stomach and following it up 30 minutes later with a meal? (I wasn’t doing this correctly initially).

It took us almost 2 weeks for prevacid to kick in the first time around. We saw results from a dosage increase within 3 days. A lot of people have seen fairly quick results from a dose increase.
