My 10 week old has been on Prevacid solutabs and also Pepcid for the past 6 weeks (approx). His reflux is better, but still not great. Now he has started just wanting 2 ounces at a time of formula – Elecare for MSPI. After the 2 ounces he flat out fights and refuses to take more. We started mixing some Vanilla Elecare in with the regular (wretched tasting stuff) to make it taste better (per his gastro). He seems to be taking it slightly better but it is still a struggle. I don’t know if it is the taste, or if he is in pain – he isn’t screaming and arching but he does get wiggly and will stiffen a bit and turn away from the bottle. So frustrating!!! I spoke with his gastro and he said he has seen some kids develop some oral aversions while on Prevacid and he wants me to stop the Prevacid for a couple days to see what happens (um yea.. that sounds like a great plan). He is on Pepcid still and he said if we need to we can bump the Pepcid to 2xday. Anyhow… I’m just wondering if anyone else had advice on this or has experienced anything similar?? I’m also a bit leary of the solutabs due to his MSPI especially since he couldn’t even tolerate Alimentum. His gastro won’t prescribe Zegerid due to lack of studies in kids and the possible link to stomach polyps. I think the Zegerid would probably be great, but don’t have a choice currently. I have contacted Marci Kids and am waiting to hear back from them regarding Buffer Babies. Sorry this was so long… just wanted to give all the background info I could!
