InactiveI was wondering ladies if any of you have seen this with your baby who takes or took Prevacid………my daughter had started the Prevacid about 2 weeks ago and last week she was doing so well. She was actually eating and sleeping through the night. Well the ped. pulmonary specialist called the other day and asked if she was doing ok and I told him that she had been eating. Well not soon after 2 days he called, she started what she did before the Prevacid. She has not been sleping through the night and when she wakes up she is usually screaming.
She does have an appointment tomorrow with him, so I am going to mention this, but I was wondering if anyone else has gone through this and what did you do? Thanks!

Inactivesometimes prevacid can cause tummy cramps but they should go away once she gets used to it(if that’s the issue). It can take as long as 2 weeks to kick in so maybe her tummy’s just adjusting?

InactiveGood luck with her appointment. Perhaps her dose is too low. Myles showed some improvement when he first started Prevacid but his dose was too low and it didn’t last. He was miserable until I finally convinced his doctor to give him a high enough dose.

InactiveI’m sure you know this already … but the compounded version can lose effectiveness in as little as 2 weeks. If this is the case, Solutabs might be a better option for you.

InactiveWhat is the difference from the capsules and solutabs? I am kind of confused about the whole thing. Thanks!

InactiveI hate to tell you, but we always went through this. I think it’s pretty common, unfortunately, hence the term the “reflux rollercoaster”. Things go well for a bit, then crash back down, you figure things out again and things go back on the upswing, and then back down again. We always had a good week, followed by at least three bad, and then another good week or two. It was a pattern. I agree to make sure the meds are being prepared properly and then to see if you can increase the dose at all.

InactiveI heard others say that they have gone through the same thing, but that after being on the meds for 4 weeks things started to go better. So I am thinking that I am going to wait it out for now. But the Prevacid that she is on is in capsule form……I have to open it and then pour out only half of it onto applesauce…….which is easier than the Zantac for sure.

InactiveOnce Myles was on the right dose his ups and downs revolved around how much he threw up, but his pain was perfectly controlled. His eating and sleeping were fine unless he was teething or sick.
I’d make sure her dose is high enough and you are giving it properly….on an empty stomach and followed up 30 minutes later with a full meal. http://www.marci-kids.com
Solutabs are little flavored tablets that dissolve easily in the mouth or in water.
