Previcid Solutabs and Lactose

I just read a post that said the solutabs contain lactose. We are getting ready to switch our 7 wk old to a this and my concern is she is allergic to dairy and soy. I better run this by my ped. Has anyone had this a problem?

There are trace amounts of lactose in the Solutabs. Frankly, I wouldn’t worry about it. It’s not likely enough to cause a reaction. My daughter was sensitive to dairy, including lactose her first year and she was completely fine on Solutabs.

I would just hate to go back to bleeding intestines like she did with soy milk. She is currently on Alimentum, no longer bleeding but has horrible gas and tummy aches.

I think it is rare that babies react to it, but it is possible. We definitely had trouble with the solutabs, so it may not be the way to go. I’m not positive if it was the lactose that Dylan reacted to or not, but he also reacted to the Hylands Teething Tabs and they also only have small trace lactose in them as well. It depends on how sensitive Kierra is. I would also consider Neocate if the trace milk in Alimentum has a chance to build back up in her system.

Sarah reacted to the lactose in the solutabs and our other DD Emma
reacted to meds with lactose in them (Hylands teething tablets for
example) as a baby also… I’d be very cautious when trying them.
Sarah however is fully anaphalactic to Dairy and Emma was also
higly intollerant so that could be why they reacted and kids with not
as severe of allergies/intollerances do not have problems. <!–

We’re worried about this as well. We’re weaning Kaelyn off of solutabs right now. I’m looking forward to seeing if the last lingering bit of eczema goes away when she is finally off the solutabs.
