I was just reading a post and it listed some of the quantities that some of the babies here consume. I spend endless time worrying about how much my son drinks. He is 6 months and we are lucky if we can get about 18-20 oz in him a day and most of that is done in his sleep as 1/2 of it is overnight. He gets 22 cal formula with 2 tablespoons of rice per 3 oz of formula.
Kaelyn is no longer on formula, but that’s about the amount that she was taking in. We did 1 Tbsp of cereal to 1 oz of formula (24 cal), and she averaged between 16 and 22 oz in a day.
Myles at that age was consuming only about 16-18 ounces per day of breast milk or formula (20cal), and about 4 – 5 tablespoons of oatmeal cereal. That’s all!! Some babies don’t need that much.
Hailey never took more than 20 oz sleep fed, and typically more like 15-18 oz or 20 cal/oz formula. Over the past few months she dropped down to 12-15 oz, and we started doing 30 cal/oz, also sleep fed.
