InactiveHi
So, I have been TRYING to cut out all dairy, hidden dairy, and soy protein in my diet suspecting that my daughter might have an intolerance for those. I found a list posted by JenniferIMomtoJack)with all the foods that are safe to eat if your baby has that allergy. But I started reading the labels on some of the foods on that list and they all have soybean oil, or guar gum, or some other ingredient that means it has a trace of soy protein. Am I wrong or is the list innaccurate? I was trying to delay doing the elimination diet because it’s so drastic but now I don’t know what the heck I can eat besides fruits and vegetables. Every packaged food has some hidden ingredient I can’t have!!! Any ideas? I’m so hungry and I feel such a responsibility for my daughter’s discomfort because while I’ve been TRYING to eat the right stuff, it turns out I haven’t!!! ARRRRRG!! Is it also true that carafate is not able to work if the child is on a PPI? We can’t catch a break!!!

InactiveMost babies can tolerate Soy oils/lechin, but not all. I would try elimiating just the soy protiens first…if you are still haveing problems try the oils as well. I had never heard of Guar gum having soy in it, but I would try the foods on that list first. If you see some improvement, but not a lot, then maybe try stuff without the guar gum in it. Brianna was majorly sensitive to soy, but i was able to eat everything on that list with no problem, so maybe the quantity isn’t enough to cause the buildup of protiens. Good luck!
Oh and i have never heard that carafate doesn’t work if your child is on a PPI, (we used them both at the same time) I have heard that carafate is just a “band-aid” fix and not to expect to see long term help from it.

Inactivedo you live near a “Wild Oats”? They have loads of amy’s products that are dairy and soy free. They are delicious. Regular grocery stores carry Amy’s but just not as much of a variety. I also buy 2 gallons of vanilla rice milk a week just for myself!!

InactiveYou have to read the labels and a natural food store is better. I ate turkey burgers, uncured turkey dogs, uncured turkey bacon, hot rice cereal, rice puffs cereal
, ground turkey mixed with rice and cooked squash. I would make a lot of that and save it and eat it over and over. As for the turkey burger and dogs, I ate them without bread. For snacks I did pears and rice crackers. I can’t think of anything else. I will say again you really have to read the labels. I would go get something, bring it home read the label and realize it was something I couldn’t eat. UGH! The diet was worth it though. He ended up not being bothered by anything other than dairy and beef which I knew before doing the diet. The good thing though was that I knew for sure and I lost about 8lbs. If I can think of anything else I ate I will let you know. -
