I had a consult with a new pedi yesterday and I started crying talking about the reflux issues and he really listened with compassion and suggested we increase Brian’s Prevacid Solutab dose from 15 mg a day to 22.5 mg a day. So we will now give him one 15 mg tablet at night and 1/2 a tablet (7.5 mg) in the morning. Has anyone else on the Prevacid Solutabs seem a substantial improvement after going from 15 mg a day to 22.5 mg a day? Also, when you cut the tablet in half, do you just store the other half in a ziploc bag for the next day? Thanks for any input. I am feeling so desperate to get Brian’s pain under control.
I’m glad you had a good outcome with the new Dr. I am sure that some babies have found an improvement with that increase. The only way to really know with these little ones is to try it and see (which of course is always painfully slow). I have seen posts where people have kept the left over solutab in aluminium foil (is that what it is called in the US?).
That’s exactly what we did with Kaelyn and the switch made a big difference for her. We also used a ziploc to store that other half when we would split the pills.
Myles needed 30 mgs to get relief, but I’ve read of at least a few babies on the board who did well on 22.5 mgs. Hopefully your little guy will be one of them. And if he needs a higher dose it seems you have a good doc who listens, so that’s great.
I used to store Myles’ broken solutab pieces in tiny rubbermaid containers with a tight fitting lids.
