Hi there,
I was just at the doctor’s office and completely forgot to ask about this so I figured I’d ask you ladies.
We gave Tess her first taste of cereal yesterday. She’s never had any – not even to thicken a bottle. I expected that she wouldn’t eat much as her thrust reflex with her tongue is still pretty strong but we figured we’d give it a try. She actually did pretty well getting it into her mouth and didn’t seem bothered by the taste or texture but after 1-2 spoonfuls she just started screaming!
I have never seen a baby react so violently to food! I tried another spoonful and she opened her mouth again only to cry more once I got the cereal in.
Do you think she simply didn’t like it or could there be more to it? I don’t know what to think. We gave her a small bottle to settle her down. Perhaps it simply wasn’t the food she’s used to and that made her mad? I purposely didn’t try this when she was really hungry – she had had a bottle just a couple of hours earlier.
