InactiveHi everyone,
My son is almost 11 months old and everyone says he should be eating table food by now. This is my first child and for me it seems early for that, but I am not sure. I know every child is different, but my guy only has 2 teeth in and has 5 more cutting right now and the last thing he wants to do is eat table food. He eats his jars of food and bottles for the most part and when he doesn’t I know it has to do with his teeth and the pain. I am starting to feel like I need to do more or am not doing something right, is it me or is it just the way it goes depending on the situationl
I would love anyone to help me out because I don’t think he is ready and am sick of all the people that I know telling me he is and don’t know why they think they know more about my son then me.
Thanks so much!!!

InactiveI think you answered your own question when you said “..the last thing he wants to do is eat table food.” If he’s not interested, he’s not ready.
All babies are different. You are his mommy and you are the best judge of when he is ready!!!
I’ve seen babies as young as 7 months on table food and some who didn’t eat table food until they were over 15 months.
If he only has two teeth that’s another good reason to wait. Gerber makes some toddler foods that dissolve in the mouth and don’t have to be chewed. When you think he’s interested in trying some table food, maybe try those. My girls loved them!!
You’ll know when he’s ready!! Trust yourself

InactiveI agree with Christine! When they are teething they are usually not interested in food at all let alone something new. We did start table foods at 8 months but he had 8 teeth at the time so I feel like that was really early. I don’t really see any reason to rush into it either. I guess it is just another case of people thinking they know how to raise your child

InactiveMy son would refuse table foods until he was 13 months old or so – then one day, out of the blue, he gobbled it all up. I kept offering by putting some food on his high chair tray, but I never forced him. He’ll know when he’s ready.

InactiveWe did the same thing that Marsha described. We offered table food at every meal, but never pushed. Kaelyn never had much interest in any solids (including purees, etc.) until around 12-13 months, when she suddenly started wanting to eat everything that we were eating. As others have said, if he’s not showing any interest, there’s no point in pushing him.
