Not sure how many of you are familiar with this program but we enrolled Kayla in it when she was 2 and it was GREAT!!
It is called the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, founded by Dolly herself. The website is http://www.dollysimaginationlibrary.com/home.php. All you have to do is register your child online (it is not available everywhere as an agency or organization has to sponsor the program- you just have to go through the registration process and it will tell you if it is offered in your area). If it is offered in your area, your child will receive 1 age appropriate book each month until he/she turns 5. The first book is “the Little Engine that Could” which is one of Dolly’s favorite. Kayla ended up with quite a great selection of books and always looked forward to checking the mail to see if a book was there for her. They are hard covered and really nice books. No financial requirements although the organization that sponsors it occaisionally sends letters saying that donations are appreciated if possible.
Something kind of neat to check out if your kiddo likes books.
