Red face and straining????

Has anybody else seen this???

After a meal my son will strain as if he is going to the bathroom and his face will get all red and he grunts. I know that he is not going to the bathroom or constipated…that is all regular and normal.

Could this be his reflux??

My opinion is yes, it could be reflux. My second son did the same thing until he was properly medicated.

How old is he? Sometimes really yong babies strain and become red faced while passing a bm even though they are not constipated. It’s just that they need to get used to the whole sensation. All of my newborns did that for the first two months or so.

It could be a pain response though. Lots of reflux babies appear to have gas and or constipation and once their reflux pain is under control the grunting and straining stops.

Sorry. I guess that doens’t help much.
