InactiveHi everyone. My name is Christina and my sons name is Zackary he is now 7 months old and doing very well. He was diagnosed with mspi 2 months ago. Before he was projectile vommiting after every bottle, his gastro said it could of been due to an immature sphincter. He has had and upper GI which came back normal and a swallow test also normal. He was on soy after going through good start, then good start lacto free, and is now on nutramagin. GI says i can start to wean him at 8 months which is in 2 weeks. OK heres the question what do i wean him to???? she never told me. and heres the other thing he never had any tests go diagnos mspi just the doc saying thats what it is. He is on solids 3x a day (stage 2) and fine with everything. He had an allergy blood test done and is allergic to nothing. so can i go to just regular good start? he drinks 3 bottles a day, 6.5 oz at 8 am, 6.5 oz at 1:30pm, and 8 oz at 7pm. Does anyone have any advice suggestions anything. I have started to give him bites of table food such as rolls, cheerios, fruit puffs. Thank you all very much.

InactiveI don’t know which formula to tell you to try, but I am going to try Gentelase when we do finally try a switch and I will do probably 2 oz per bottle for a few days and then up that until there is no more Nutramigen and then after a month or so if that is all good then go to a full milk based formula, but we are pretty severe here so that is just what I am planning on doing.

InactiveWe went from Neocate to Goodstart without DHA/ARA. We did it very slow. We did two ounces of Goodstart to six ounces of Neocate and I did this for two weeks. Then 4 ounces of Goodstart and 4 ounces of Neocate again very slow two weeks. I really think any milk based formula is what they want you to wean too. Just make sure you take your time and let him adjust each time. Goodluck and keep us updated.

InactiveI have two feelings with this topic. We were on alimentum and went to goodstart @ 7 months. I think its a GREAT formula to go to because its broken down but not as broken down as alimentum/nutramigen…but much more broken down then the “regular” ones. BUT.. my son did o.k with the switch.. he was a bit more gassier…and some excema came back.. but not tooo much. When he was 12 mos. old..we found out he was allergic to dairy. I wish we new to avoid dairy all together ealrier on. but i think that because we went to goodstart, i wasnt totally able to see his full allergy… if that makes sense. By trying a regular formula you might be able to tell if he can handle dairy or not a bit clearer. Because if i knew before that shane couldnt handle it .. i wouldnt have gave him any, so that he would grow out of it faster. So, i think goodstart is GREAT for children that can handle dairy..
anyhow, thats my two cents.. but i hope that the switch goes well!! And I would switch slowly and make sure that you could always switch back if things dont go well!! That was my other mistake.. we switched too fast..and he LOVED the new taste..that it was too hard to get back to the alimentum!!
