Sorry to take so long to get back.
The Nurse Practitioner that we saw at the Ped. GI office just “isn’t comfortable” with the dose of the Solutabs that Jack was on (22.5 mg. 2x a day) and also said that the suspension can be more exact for Jack’s weight. I’m so upset because, for the past week, Jack has been getting progressively worse. I called the Ped. GI office yesterday and practically begged the Nurse Practitioner to go back to the Solutabs with the dose that Jack was on, but she refuses. Yet she can’t tell me what side effects she is afraid that Jack will have. Jack was just starting to really get some sleep at night and very seldom would have any reflux symptoms during the day. The only reason that we went to the Ped. GI was because it had been scheduled a long time ago. Now it seems like it made things worse instead of better. When I talked to her yesterday, she agreed to put Jack on Zantac (2 ml) at bedtime in addition to the suspension. When I asked about timing the Prevacid and Zantac so they don’t interfere, she said that she thinks I would be safe giving them 3 hrs. apart. She also scheduled him to have a scope. I’m worried about this as they have to put him under. What will this show anyway? She’s obviously not going to increase his medication. What a nightmare. She said that I could ask his Pediatrician to prescribe the Solutabs, but my thinking is that what Pediatrician will prescribe something that a specialist isn’t willing to prescribe? I guess it’s worth it to give him a call though. Anyway, just thought that I would reply, even though it’s been a while (we went out of town).
