InactiveWe’ve reached a new milestone, rolling over
Unfortunately, Peyton has started to do so at night while he’s sleeping. He’s a tummy sleeper and can’t stand to sleep on his back. So when he rolls onto his back he gets mad and wakes up! Do you guys think it’ll get better once he’s able to roll back onto his stomach on his own and resettle back into sleep? He had been sleeping so much better lately, actually sleeping through the night now this is happening
I have a sleep positioner but I really don’t want to use it. Any advice?Aby

InactiveUgh, probably not the advice you want to hear, but within a couple of weeks he will be able to roll the other way and will stop “calling” for you in the middle of the night. I remember this with Dylan especially and would say “you go flip the pancake” as we would take turns at night.
Hang in there! It will pass soon. I would not use the positioner…..September 25, 2007 at 1:18 pm #43274Anonymous
InactiveHa!! We are dealing with the same thing with Nathan now — he was born 5/20 so is almost exactly the same age as Peyton. It’s a huge pain, but there’s not much I know to do about it but to get up and flip him over. A few nights ago I had to do this 8 times!!! He doesn’t feed in the middle of the night anymore thankfully, so each time he would go back to sleep — but it felt like I had a newborn again, I was up so much!! Last night it happened 5 times, I think….
The same thing happened with my older son, and once he was able to roll the other way easily, we stopped flipping him and made him do it 🙂 In the meantime, we are “practicing” a lot with Nathan during the day during playtime, trying to speed his progress along 🙂
Hopefully someone else will have more advice for the both of us ??? I am getting pretty tired of it, too 🙂September 25, 2007 at 2:11 pm #43279Anonymous
InactiveHang in there. It will get better once he learns to roll back onto his stomach. Give him lots of time to play on the floor during the day so he gets plenty of practice.

InactiveI figured it would pass soon, hopefully really soon. I was enjoying getting some sleep finally! We’ll keep practicing during the day. He seems to roll really easily in the crib because the mattress has some “give”. It really is like flipping a pancake.

InactiveAH, I remember posting this same thing when my son was that age. They do eventually learn to either flip back over or, as in my son’s case, to sleep on their back!
Like everyone else said, just make sure he gets lots of practice trying to turn back the other way. It will pass soon, and then you’ll be dealing with something else… like him sitting in his bed!

InactiveHaha, that’s funny. I guess there will always be SOMETHING but everything will pass in time. Are you telling me that maybe he could possibly get used to sleeping on his back? Wouldn’t that be great?! His reflux is under control and not bothering him as much (knock on wood)

InactiveYep, I was as shocked as you. I remember checking on him one night before I went to bed, and there he was, fast asleep on his back! I was floored and thrilled too!
