Side Effect to Solutab???

Hi

I started the solutab last night around 630P

Fed him at 715P and off to bed.

He woke at 1A ate 2 oz. He would not go back to

sleep. It tried to feed him again about 3A he ate 1/2 oz.

Then he screamed of huge tummy pains.

Was fine this AM. Got him up at 7A gave solutab, fed him at 745A

By 9A he was screaming again of tummy pains. Major tummy pains.

Is this the Prevacid? He was on the prevacid compound and had tummy

pains but just mild ones. But these are major.

He is on Nutramagen. He had biopsy for Milk Allergy and that came back fine. BUt he might be Milk intolerant.

Dylan had the same reaction. There is strawberry flavor, lactose and aspertime in them. Some babies do great on the solutabs, but they were a nightmare for us.

Also, even if they don’t test positive for allergies, some babies have a harder time than other digesting milk.

I would try a different form of the med.

We did the prevacid packets with Dylan and the prilosec suspension with carter. The packets really worked for Dylan but not a favorite choice for moms here. THe prilosec suspension worked great for Carter, but we had it compounded at a pharmacy that we knew would do it correctly and had them overnight it to us two weeks at a time. That worked great for him. You could try the capsules and serve them in a spoonful of applesauce. That woudl probably be one of the best ways to know that there is nothing else in the dose that is affecting your baby.

Maybe other moms will have better advice? Hang in there!!!
