InactiveRylie has been waking up at night lately at least 3 to 4 times crying. On top of that she has been vurping (vomit as she burps) and her hiccups are constant. I feel so bad for her. I did call the pulmonolgist to see what I should do and the nurse said that she will ask him if we should change the meds or possibly go and see an upper GI. Still has not called, but it is still early yet.
Did any of you ladies have this same issue after being on Prevacid or any other meds?
Thanks!

InactivePoor Rylie.
How old is she? Is she on a high enough dose of Prevacid? The waking, “vurping” (I never heard that term before, but it sure fits) and chronic hiccups all seem consistent with reflux. I hope the doc will up her meds. Sounds like she probably needs a higher dose.

InactiveI agree that it sounds like reflux…have you checked to see if she is on the marci-kids dose? What form of prevacid are you using (sorry, I am sure you hve already posted this some where, but I just lose track.

Inactiveyea sounds like she may need a dose increase.

InactiveThings improved for us when on a correct dose of a ppi, yet for us nothing really got “better” with night wakings until we addressed protein intolerances for Lucas (and even then “better” is a real stretch!). I know he’s a rather unusual case to have both issues and to have them so extreme, but if the meds are maxed out and there’s no other reflux reasons, you might look into foods and what she’s newly eating or what you are eating (if bfeeding) and how that might fit into the picture.

InactiveNightwakings have been a chronic problem for us even maximally elevated and on a high dose of PPI. It seems that Hailey is bothered by the reflux episodes even when they are non-acidic.

InactiveOh one more thing…Brianna still would have break through acid, even with the PPI…adding and H2 blocker at night worked for us…I know a lot of other have had success with pepcid complete as well (that is what we use now because of all the alcohol in Zantac)

InactiveThanks ladies!!! I am really looking forward to meeting this new GI for her tomorrow. I will let you ladies know what he says……they are supposed to look at the barium test that the pulmonologist did in January. I am really hoping that he helps her, so that her reflux gets into control and this way her asthma will not act up either.
Thanks again!!!
