I was wondering when some starting letting their babies sleep on their backs? I have been either holding my daughter at night or she sometimes will let me put her in her bouncy chair. But I noticed that when I hold her she sleeps best when she is on her back. So I am tempted to try letting her sleep in her pack and play in our room. But I am so paranoid about her choking on spit up. Our ped seemed to think it was fine. And she really couldn’t choke.
I always put my babies on their sides because I worried about them choking on their backs as well. I know docs tell us back sleeping is safest, but I’m just not comfortable with it.
Cooper always slept on his back at an incline until he could roll over on his own and then there was no keeping him on his back. Now I usually put him down on his side and he usually ends up on his tummy by choice. I think you are safe to do the back thing, but if not do the side and if you lo wants to be on their back then they will get there.
I didn’t know if there was maybe a good time to start doing it. But every baby is different so I guess it is just trial and error. I know with my son we didn’t lay him down until he was six months old. Far longer than I’m sure we needed to. But it was our first baby and so our first experience with reflux.
