Logan has been on solutabs for about 2 weeks now. My peditrician is uping his dose slowly so we are now giving him 7.5mg 2x per day. Ever since we started giving him the second dose at night he has been having terrible gas through out the night and keeps waking up crying. Has anyone else had this reaction? Does anyone have a solution?

Abby has been on 7.5mg 2x daily since she was 6wks old. I have never encountered this problem. Have you tried some Mylicon drops to see if it helps? Is there anything that he is eating for dinner or before bed that could be causing excess gas?

I have heard of others having problems with cramping or gas before the evening dose. They often say that this gets better, but hopefully someone else will be able to respond.

Just wondering- how do you know it’s gas as opposed to something else. Maybe he is waking because his reflux is still flaring at night. His dose is pretty low, so there should be room to move upward.

Myles had some cramping once we upped his dose too. He didn’t seem to have them with the low dose, but maybe that’s because he was so miserable all the time that I didn’t notice. I did notice some cramping when we upped his dose to to 30 mgs. I was worried about it but I read here that some babies react to the aspertame or lactose and that they usually adapt in about two weeks, so I stuck with it and sure enough the cramping stopped in about two weeks.

Hopefully that’s all it is with Logan, but I do wonder if it’s reflux that’s bothering him. 7.5 mgs twice a day is still a pretty low dose. And for Myles the cramping from his Prevacid usually only lasted 30 minutes to an hour after taking his solutab. I’m not sure why it would last all night long.

Isaac does get lots of gas from the solutabs. We just give mylicon when it is bad. I hope he feels better soon!

Thanks for all the help. The reason I think its the solutabs is because its the only think we’ve changed resently. He has gotten a little better over the last two days. Hopefully he’s getting use to the dose because I go back to his peditrician on Tuesday to see if she will higher the dose again.
