InactiveJust trying every avenue to help Aidan’s reflux, he has had cereal in his bottle since about 4 weeks, the same cereal I might add, gerber single grain oatmeal which has soy in it. Would that be bothering him NOW even though he’s been on it for 4 months? does it build up or something? (he is in no way mspi)

InactiveI wish I could answer that question for you.
I’m in the same boat with Myles. He’s been on the same diet for well over three months and his reflux is worse now that it has been in a very long time. I really can’t figure it out either. I hope you find some answers! Please post them if you do…I hope things get better for Aidan soon.

InactiveWell, I do know that Owen was on soy formula for about 8 weeks before it bothered him and then he had to go on alimentum and it took a few weeks for him to really improve. After that though he did great – most of the time anyway. The doctors did tell me that it can take some time to build up in his system, and was careful to tell me to be sure to use beechnut cereal at the time since it was the only one that guaranteed no soy.
I don’t know if that helps, but that’s what happened in our situation anyway. Good luck!

InactiveI found delmonte is also soy free, I might start using either that or beechnut (whichever is at the store I’m at kroger has del Monte, publix has bechnut), I had switched to the del monte, but it was the same time I cut his meds, so I guess I’ll give the meds a week or 2 to build back up in his system, them maybe make the switch.
Christine, big hugs hun, I really hope myles’s issues right now are teething related? He’s about the right age. I hope he gets better soon 2, since cutting out the solids, Aidan does seem a bit better (sucks though b/c he LOVED them)

InactiveI don’t really think anyone knows the answer as to whether or not soy lecithin (sp?) is an issue but most of us switched to another brand that didn’t have it just in case. I used Beechnut.

InactiveI wasn’t sure what exactly soy lechtin was so I did a search for it….and even after reading a very detailed article about it, I STILL have no idea…aparently it’s the stuff left over after soy beans have been processed? not really sure though the article was a bit “over my head”.

InactiveAlot of people swear that it doesn’t cause an issue but i held off until about a month ago. Isaac does do fine with it.

InactiveI think you are exactly right about it being a “leftover” portion after soybean processing. Supposedly it is really the fat that is leftover and contains very little (if any) soy protein. It’s mostly used as a binder in a lot of processed foods.
