InactiveOkay, maybe not buckets, but seriously I think he’s spitting up his whole bottle! I just found this wonderful message board today…thank goodness. My ds will turn six months old on Monday. We have been dealing with reflux since he was diagnosed at two months old. After having an upper g.i., it showed he has severe reflux. He’s been on all kinds of meds, but the past couple of months he’s on Prevacid twice a day, Reglan 1.0 – four times a day, and Caraphate 1.0 – four times a day. They are working as far as he doesn’t scream out in pain anymore, but he is spitting us so badly. He’s even choking and it breaks my heart. I know there are a lot of other people who are dealing with a whole lot more, but my poor little boy is breaking my heart! I know there isn’t much you can do, but I’m just so frustrated! Thank you for listening! Comments and help are welcome!

InactiveHi Jennifer,
I just wanted to welcome you here. And let you know that we know what you are feeling and going through. I am not sure you can do much about the amount he throws up. I am glad he isn’t in pain anymore though! And glad the meds are working. I remember that when my son was around your son’s age he was spitting up a lot! And i heard somewhere that it gets worse around 6 mos old..and then it should start to get better. Around 9 to 10 mos old he was spitting up a lot less…so hang in there!October 14, 2007 at 12:52 am #44192Anonymous
InactiveHi Jennifer and welcome!

My son has always spit up TONS, so I really feel for you. That’s great that the Prevacid is helping and he’s no longer in pain. Is he gaining weight okay despite his throwing up? If weight has become an issue, you might try another motility medicine besides Reglan. At one point my son was not gaining weight because he spit up SO much. We found out he has delayed gastric emptying and he was started on Erythromycin (an alternative to Reglan). It did wonders for him and although he still vomits quite a bit, it’s much less and he no longer has weight issues. So anyway, just something to keep in mind. Of course if your son is not having issues with weight, then it may not be anything to worry about and something he will just need to outgrow. Good luck, and hang in there!

InactiveHi and Welcome,
Like Lauren said relfux seems to peak between 4 and 7 months. Ours has gotten so much better now that Cooper is able to pull to standing and he is on his feet allot or sitting with such great trunk control, so hope that gives you some light at the end of the tunnel. We still spit, but not nearly as bad as we did before. -
