Spitting Up

Aidan has been on 3.5ml 3xs per day of the 2mg/ml Prilosec suspension for about 2 weeks now and he was doing really well on it. We had smiles and giggles all the time but now it seems the dose as is is losing effectiveness again as he tends to get irritable. He also seems to be spitting up alot after each feed which was never an issue before (he tended to be more of a silent refluxer)

Have any of you noticed the PPI your child was on losing effectiveness after a certain period of time? And if so, was it this quickly?

Also, do you think the spitting up is a sign that the reflux is starting to get out of control again?

Just when we seemed to be having good days, now this…..

the compounded meds can lost effectiveness in about 2 weeks,

it alsop maybe time for an increase as they gain weight they need more meds.

and my son spit up more on the meds too, only it doesnt bother him because its not acidic anymore.

Yes, Natalia’s right about the compounds. If they are not prepared correctly they lose their effectiveness before the medication is used up. Also, you may want to check his dose at http://www.marci-kids.com Some babies (like my little guy) don’t do well unless they are on the high dose that the researchers at marci-kids recommend.

I wouldn’t be too concerned about the spitting up. Myles fluctuated a lot in the amount that he spit up. There were weeks where it was constant and weeks where it was more infrequent.
