InactiveWe did it! We’ve been suspecting that the solutabs were bothering Harrison, so we finally mixed up a batch & gave him his first dose this morning! GOSH I hope we did it right! It looked like there may have been a little bit stuck at the bottom of the bottle after all the vigorous shaking, so I hope it’s ok!!! Now we’re waiting for the GI to call back, I’d like to switch to rx Prilosec or to Zegerid, which would be a lot cheaper for us. Plus, all the mixing for the BB just makes me nervous!!

InactiveWell, the day went well, but the evening hasn’t been as good. He keeps waking up screaming and arching/crunching. We can eventually get him back to sleep, but we’ll see what happens…

InactiveDay 2 of BB w/ Prilosec, and things are starting to look up. Yesterday during the day he seemed less cranky, but still took short naps. Last night he woke up between say 7-11 every hour or so screaming/arching. Today was about the same as yesterday, but even in towards bedtime he seemed happier. This evening has been a little better than last night. We’re keeping our fingers crossed! I corresponded with Dr. P and he said the first week could be shakey as the body gets used to the buffers.

InactiveHow are things going? I got my buffer babies kit and picked up the prilosec today. Hoping to give it a try tomorrow! My 5.5 month old has been on solutabs for almost 2 months with not much improvement.

InactiveGood luck with the bufferbabies. You get used to all the mixing. I used to feel like a pharmacist making Hailey’s caracream.. it just became second nature. It really was the only thing that helped her at all. Hope you all find success.

InactiveHi there, just wondering where/how you ordered Buffer Babies? Is it offered by the folks at Marci-kids only in studies, or is this something different (I know caracreme was like that, and they stopped being able to sell it in the US once they sold the rights to Zegerid). I’m just trying to find a solution for my little GERDling. She was on Zegerid but started refusing to take it after an ill-advised switch to Zantac (I know!) by the idiot nurse practitioner we saw at the GI dept of our local Children’s hospital. Now I have her on Prevacid solutabs, which she will take, but there is a possibility she is MSPI and I think she might be reacting to them…

InactiveYou order Buffer Babies through the Marci-kids site. The one to get ahold of is David Stock. You can find his email/phone under the Team info on the website. There’s also a great reflux board on babycenter if you haven’t found that one yet. There’s a lot of people with great info there! Dr. Phillips from the Marci-Kids team is a member and is always very helpful! The team is called The Reflux Rebels.

InactiveWe actually were able to get our doc to rx Zegerid for us, so we switched to that after 1 week on BB, but I’m seriously considering going back to BB. My little guy has an ear/sinus infection now, so he’s not super happy and he’s on antibiotics, but he also seems to be having some tummy/reflux issues again. It could be the antibiotics I suppose, so I’m going to wait until he’s off of those for a few days to see how he is. BB is stressful at first to mix up, but actually seemed easier than the Zegerid since they give you all the tools you need to make it in the kit.

InactiveThanks for updating. Today was day 4 of BB/prilosec and my little guy is just awful. I actually gave up on it and went back to his solutab tonight. He has never been this fussy. All of his reflux symptoms came back bad. He started this weird grunt/cry thing and did it all day. We couldn’t put him down for a minute. I know they say it can take awhile to work but I just couldn’t do it anymore. Something just made me feel that this wasn’t the right med for him. I was really hoping this would be our miracle med! 🙁
