InactiveHi again –
We’ve been having a rough time lately – I feel like I’m posting with new dilemmas every day! Anyway, Owen has caught what I think is his first stomach bug but I’m not sure. He had a cold this weekend then yesterday morning threw up his bottle before daycare so he stayed home. He was ok all day but had no solids until dinner (which was small) and then had a couple of ounces but threw up again. He had his whole bottle this morning but then threw it all up again so we put him on pedialyte all day. He did fine with it and had some crackers and pasta at lunchtime, and 1/2 a chicken nugget at dinner but that was about it. He’s had some of his bottle and so far, so good.
Anyway, I’m concerned because he would hardly eat anything all week last week so now I’m wondering if this is all related or if one has nothing to do with the other. He was finally eating relatively normally on Saturday/Sunday, but then this started. He’s never had a stomach virus so I have no idea what it’s normally like but he’s SO whiney and clingy. He also has a tooth breaking through – could that be causing this too?
Ugh – I’m so overwhelmed and miserable right now. I feel like we keep taking one step forward and ten steps back. I almost feel like post-partum weepy too – I say one word and start to cry. It’s all just been too much to deal with and it feels like it’s just been SO long that he has suffered and we have worried.

InactiveMaybe something cruddy from daycare? Maybe you should call and find out if something is going around. I hope that it is a teething problem and will go away really fast! Try some Motrin or benedryl?

InactiveDon’t really know what it could be, but hope it passes soon and he’s feeling better quickly.

InactiveLaura,
I know that the Rotavirus is going around at my daughter’s school. It is a stomach bug that is highly contagious. Apparently it makes a round every year starting in the SW in october and traveling through the country and hitting the NE around this time of year. Not sure where you are located, but that could be the culprit. Does he have a fever?

InactiveHi Laura. Emma was sick about 2-3 weeks ago and it started out the same way. The doc said it wasn’t rotavirus but just a bad stomach bug going around. She started out with a cold, then she started throwing up everything she ate even pedialyte and we thought she was going to get dehydrated. Thankfully every time she would throw up she would eat/drink again so she kept hydrated. Then the vomitting got better and she got some diahrrea. It lasted for about 1.5 weeks. Teething normally brings a low grade temp but not vomitting, Emma didn’t have a temp with her sickness but very whiney so a combination of them both is really hard. It does suck and I hope he doesn’t have it to this extent. I hope he is feeling better soon!!
