Does anyone know if you have to use some sort of covering for zegerid? Basically what I am talking about is I used to mix a few days of zegerid in a cup and stick it in the fridge. At first I covered it with alum. foil and then I guess I just forgot to cover it. Anyway, Justice was off the meds for 5 1/2 days since I was trying to wean him. I only had one dose left just in case I needed it. When I went to the fride to get it out it was sticky and gooey. I actually had to add water to it to even get it in the syringe. My understanding is that you can store zegerid in the fridge for up to 21 days so, I would imagine it turned sticky because i hadn’t used it in a few days or because it wasn’t covered.
Same here we store ours in a plastic container. You can get one of those brown medicine bottles that the phamacy uses for their liquid meds. I went to Wal-mart and they gave me one.
I make it in a 20ml syringe then dispense the doses into 10ml syringes. I make about 4 days worth at a time. I got the syringes from my pharmacist.
I have noticed the colder it is the thicker is seems. I just hold the syringe in my hand for a few moments to warm it slighty and it thins a bit so I can shake it a bit, then give it to him.
CaraCream also thickens up after it’s been in the fridge for a long time. Joel told me that I could keep it out for a few minutes to let it thin out a bit before giving it. I assume it’s the same with the zegerid.
