InactiveTook Dylan to the ped’s this morning because he had really dark cirlces under his eyes and was really stuffy………plus last night he woke up and was complaining about his head hurting in the back, so Joe gave him some Tylenol and he went back to sleep. So when we went in the automatically gave him the Rapid Strep Test…..when the ped came in, she said that the test came out positive
. This poor boy just had it last month on St. Patrick’s Day
.She did say that if he has it 2 more times, he will have to go to the ENT to have his tonsills (sp?). He really did not look that bad until this afternoon and you can tell by his eyes that he does not feel well.
I feel so bad for him
.Have any of ladies had the same experience? Did you have to have your child’s tonsills (sp?) taken out? I would like to hear some of your stories. I am not worried if we have to because the kids have a GREAT ENT over here at Akron Children’s Hospital…….I just LOVE her. She had put in Rylie’s tubes (January 2006) and taken her adenoids out this past January.

InactiveAlexis had her tonsils, adenoid, and bilateral PE tubes placement when she was 22 months old. It was very hard on her since she never was a good eater or drinker so we stayed in the hospital for almost 3 days for fluid hydration. The ENT told us she would be feeling 100% by 2 weeks and sure enough she did. I also had to get my tonsils out a few months after she did, it was painful to eat and drink at first, but around 10 days, I was back to eating and drinking normally. It was great for me since I did lose 10lbs due to not eating, but it was hard to see Alexis lose so much weight, since it is a battle to get her to eat to pack on any pounds. The ENT told us, around 5 years old is the best age since they can understand, and really enjoy ice cream and popiscles, he said typically the youngest is 3 y/o but he made an expection for Alexis since he was doing tubes anyways and she was going to need her tonsils out eventually so why put her under general anesthesia 2 times.

InactiveDylan had his adenoids out at 21 months and his tonsils out at 31 months. Both were difficult but successful. My friend’s daughter just had her tonsils/adenoids out at 4 years old, and she was eating popsicles that day and was up and about on day 2. It was very successful for her and not a difficult recovery at all…
