InactiveSince Aidan has started solids he is hungry ALL THE TIME, now I know I would have given anything to say that 2 months ago when he was refusing to eat, but now he is eating a TON…which is good, but he is gaining a lot of weight, and he was no lightweight o begin with…4 month old checkup he was 16.7..I weighed him yesterday with me holding him on the scale (not super accurate I know) and it registered 19 lbs over what I weigh…..I have started decreasing the amount of cereal in his bottle, he had 3 tablespoons per 4 oz, now I have started doing 2, which he hates, sputters and gulps trying to drink it, and spits up now (although I think that is because he found his feet and likes to sit up?)Do they go through a growth spurt around 5 months or something? My oldest was chubby but I don’t remember him being THIS chubby…maybe Aidan is just short….Would starting solids up his appetite? He usually does not eat that much although he wolfed down a whole bowl of cereal and peaches this morning (about 2 tbs cereal and 1/2 jar of peaches..) and sometimes eats a whole jar of something if he likes it…I was told to stop feeding them when they lose interest, which I do…Maybe his reflux is going away? it does seem better, like I said in an earlier post I decreased his meds to 7.5 mgs 2X a day…maybe I should take the cereal out of his bottle completely? ugh just at a loss, I mean I’m all for roly poly babies but I think it’s playing a HUGE part in why he won’t (or can’t) roll over…it’s frustrating b/c he wants to eat more than his tummy can handle then he spits up whatever is over the “full” line (usually not a TON) Is it normal for a 5 month old to finish his meal (solids) then be hungry an hour later for a bottle (4 oz)? AND he started waking up in the night around 4 (last week it was 2) to eat…..maybe just making up for that month of 7 oz’s a day….I just don’t want him to be unhealthy..

InactiveI wouldn’t worry, honestly. Both my girls became very plump at that age. Liza was downright FAT at 5 months. I remember being worried because I come from a family history of obesity and so does dh. But, Liza is actually skinny now. And Ellie is average size, not skinny, but not fat.
Babies are born with a very good ability to recognize fullness and stop eating when they are full. He may be eating just a little more than he needs right now because the solids are new and he is enjoying them, but that “newness” will wear off, and if he is overeating at all, he will stop once he is not so excited about his new foods.
A growth spurt is a real possibilty, too.
Myles is not chubby at all and he doesn’t roll over!

InactiveOk just being mommy paranoid, I mean you’d think I would be jumping for joy seeing as he used to only eat 7-10 oz a day, aparently Aidan just likes to go from one extreme to another!! (just had to go buy him a WHOLE new wardrobe as the 6 month clothes are just not cutting it anymore, what’s funny is the 6 month clothes fit perfectly length wise…he’ll be dwarfed by these 9 month ones I bought, but his neck is so fat that the collars of the 6 month old clothes are cutting into it!!!)

InactiveWe wouldn’t be mommies if we didn’t worry about every little thing! I always though I’d worry less as they got older, but I worry as much about Liza as I do Myles. Just about different things, like boys teasing her at pre-school! I want to go in there like a big mamma bear and put an end to their little boy antics!
Anyway, I’m glad Aidan is eating well. He must be feeling good.
