Switching from Alimentum to Good Start

Hello! I’m in need of some major help!

My son was put on Alimentum a little over a month ago by our pediatrician because of his constant puking. His ped thought it was a milk/soy formula allergy. Well, not only did it not help but he started gagging more with the Alimentum. A couple weeks ago he was finally diagnosed with reflux and put on meds which are kind of helping, I guess. (with the pain not the puking) Anyway…my doc said we could try weaning him off the Alimentum since it didn’t seem to be helping any. I chose Good Start Supreme because I’ve heard such great things about it and have already tried Gentlease, AR and regular Enfamil prior to the Alimentum with not good results. Today we tried 1 scoop of Good Start with 2 scoops of Alimentum and it seems to be coming up more than normal. Is this going to be normal for a while due to the change or should I stop the weaning process? (oh and btw- we add rice cereal to all bottles per doc’s orders)

I only have a min. to answer your post because my little one is not sleeping well. We went from Neocate to Goodstart and it didn’t go very well he began getting gas and overall you could tell he didn’t feel good. I decided to switch to Goodstart without DHA/ARA and I had a new child. We decided to see if that was the issue so I tried Enfamil GentleEase and sure enough he was back to his painful issues. We put him back on and he is doing great. He is 2 1/2 but he failed his milk trial so we are waiting a little longer. I wouldn’t take the rice out just yet because it makes it so hard to see which one is causing the problem. I would also continue for at least two weeks because it can take that long for their stomaches to get used to the new formula. Hope this helps.
