Thanks Lori – I think you hit the nail on the head – I think she’s
scared to come down/doesn’t understand how because she’s not stable in
standing yet – she’s still pretty wobbly doing it and definitely can’t
stand unassisted/not holding onto something. Will keep working on it
and hopefully she gains more balance soon!June 21, 2006 at 8:01 am #10187AnonymousInactiveKaren-how about when you see her struggling, put a favorite toy by her feet. That’s how Ian began I think. If he drops his favorite block, he’s right down there trying to pick it up. Just until she get’s the hang of it-the sensation?
We’re still not sure what’s going on with Ian’s night pulling up. NO sleep last night-am going to post right now in sleeping for suggestions.

the toy and starts to cry – just responded to your sleeping post – hope
things get better soon. I’m heading out now – taking M to visit her
grandma and cousin in NJ for the day but will be back online tonight.June 21, 2006 at 1:56 pm #10219AnonymousInactiveThanks Lori… we are putting him in kneeling but he will both be on his knees or be straight… like the OT said last time, she thinks it is lack of practice??
Yes, i am pretty sure that he is thirsty, nothing to do with hunger. Problem is the more he drinks, the less he eats… HMMM
Also, we just got back from cardiologist – he said yes, can hear small murmur but he said he is going to do nothing at all for another year and then see if it is still there…so really nothing to worry about (he also saw matthew in action and said that he really does not look like he is having any trouble with activity LOL). Everything else was normal and the 2 MDs that looked at him right before the senior guy missed the murmur…. so must be really small.

I’d like to have someone look at Hailey, but having a hard time convince the ped. Sometimes she suddenly just lies down and puts her head on the ground. She does it a lot. Could be her bad sleeping making her tired, but I’m not sure of that.
Hailey is also doing poorly with solids these days. It’s so frustrating.

The standards for EI are at such a bare minimum, it can be frustrating. Emma qualifies for all her therapies through them, but the private therapy is just so much more intense & they give us LOTS more to do at home.
Anyway, it could be that Matthew has some low-tone that will go away in the next few months. Emma is 25 months & still cannot go from laying down to sitting. She started walking at 19 months…but, she learned to get to a standing position before that. Something that surprised her therapist. So go figure! We have practically lived with Emma on the floor (whe she is happy & not sick!) since she was an infant & that has made a world of difference.
I would see if you can find an OT or PT that will do even just one session with you, working with an exercise ball. There are all sorts of exercises you can do & they are great for core-strengthening. Take care!
