Justice has been waking at night recently and I had no idea what was going on. One night in particular he seemed to be in pain. Anyway, so yesterday the nose started running, drooling like mad, and chewing on everything and biting me. So, I am 99% sure it is teething. I am doughting a bit though because he keeps sneezing also. I don’t remember the sneezing with teething. He was up all night long last night squrming all over me. Does it sound like teething? Have your little ones sneezed with teething or does it sound like a cold? I swear if he is sick again I am going to become a germ afobe(sp).
July 29, 2007 at 2:03 pm #40078AnonymousInactiveFor me and my kids frequent sneezing is often the beginning of a cold. We’re all just getting over one right now that I initially thought was allergies. Since it spread to each of us in succession I am now quite sure it’s a cold. With all of us it started with lots of sneezing and a runny nose. I hope Justice is feeling better soon. It’s always something, hugh?
July 29, 2007 at 4:08 pm #40087AnonymousInactiveUgh! That is what I have been afraid of. It is always something. It drives me crazy. I am a SAHM and my kids get sick all the time. What is the deal? I can understand if they were in daycare of school or something, but the only thing we do is go to the store occasionally, get together with some friends for playdates, go to the zoo, very rarely go out to eat, and go to church. It is just plain crazy. I mean most people would say my kids are sheltered and we don’t get out enough. Luke just got over the herpes thing. I am still hopeing for it being teething, but my throat is getting a little sore. Of course, that happens to me sometimes when I think I might be getting sick.
July 29, 2007 at 7:49 pm #40099AnonymousInactiveYeah, I know the feeling. I’m a SAHM too and my kids still get sick. It drives me nuts. This last round they picked up at the pool. At least that’s where I think they got it. They go to swim lessons and church. That’s about it. Once a week we may go shopping. It’s very frustrating. But I guess it’s normal and supposedly each time they get sick they “teach” their immune system how to fight things off more easily. That’s what the doctor always tells me. I think it must be true because my oldest was sick constantly the first year of preschool and now she gets the fewest colds and stomach bugs and when she does get sick she bounces back much more quickly than the other two. So, I guess there’s a light at the end of the tunnel with these stupid viruses.
July 30, 2007 at 2:43 pm #40153AnonymousInactiveWell, I don’t know what we caught or when we caught it, but we are both sick now. This is so frustrating. I have meetings every Wednesday that have just started and two of the 4 I have not been able to go to due to being sick. I think I am going to go buy some clorox every where spray and if we go out to eat spray the high chair down and the table and every grocercy cart I am going to spray to. I may look weird, but I just don’t care. We have one of those cart things for Justice, but don’t have anything for Luke for the back of the cart. Also we usually put the cart thing in the height chairs, but forget it last time. I think that may be how he got sick even though we wipped it down.
Christine I sure hope your right. I was always told that a bf baby wouldn’t get sick as badly as a non bf baby, but in our case that is not true. Of course, he is so much like me and I got sick all the time as a kid. Which actually scares me because I used to get phenomia (sp) all the time and almost died from it twice. Maybe the bfing will keep him from that.July 30, 2007 at 4:40 pm #40172AnonymousInactiveYou sound like me. I used to carry a bottle of bleach water and I’d spray down the grocery cart before putting Liza into it. I stopped doing it because it’s always windy in ND and you can imagine what happens when you spray bleach water on a windy day. So , I bought one of those grocery cart covers for her (now Myles uses it) and that helps a lot but like you said it doesn’t help with the older kids. Eating out is a big culprit. We rarely eat out anymore and we definitely get sick less often. I swear the kids would get sick every time we ate anywhere. I’m not sure why but my kids were breast fed and they still got sick as much as any other baby. Maybe that’s a myth, that breast fed babies get sick less often. I hope you are all feeling better soon.
July 30, 2007 at 6:10 pm #40181AnonymousInactiveIs that true? That bf babies get sick less often? I’m kinda leaning towards myth b/c my friend’s babes were bf and her daughter has excema. asthma, the whole shebang! I was clinging to that myth b/f I met her
