Inactiveso, heather~ i am confused because you said.. by adding 2 cans it makes it whole milk.. but here it says by adding 12 oz of water it makes it whole milk..and not to do that until a year.
so by adding 2 cans (24 oz) it is really making it more like 1 or 2 % than right???
and sue~ dont you think you were told not to use the ref. kind not just because of the vitamins..but because it was whole milk..and we arent supposed to give them whole milk until a year?? because its hard to digest? i am just checking on this..here is where i feel confused. maybe its lack of sleep why i am not fully understanding!

InactiveSorry – I did say whole milk.
I meant by adding the two cans of water it’s reconstitued and then you add the syrup for the extra calories and carbs. Sorry. That’s what I get for trying to explain something so early in the morning.
Anyway! Once he’s one, you can just add one can of water, and that would be whole milk.I think you’re probably right about waiting on the ref. kind because it is whole milk. I didn’t think about that.

InactiveThe Peds MD didn’t want the refridgerated kind because it is like whole milk which lacks the proper amount of vitamins and carbs as oppose to the Dr. Sears recipe. The concentrated goats milk has a higher contain of the proper vitamins and minerals even when the water is added.

InactiveWe got our ped. nutritionist from the children’s hospital here. They kind of automatically assigned her to us when Bryce had his heart surgery, then she continued to give us advice when we were back home. She was covered by our insurance.
I think you could also get a nutritionist from Early Intervention, although I’m not sure what it would take to qualify for one. You could probably get some advice anyway though.

InactiveTaylor’s nutritionist is from Early Interventions, she’s been a Godsend to us! She’s the one that actually found the right formula for her! Taylor qualified for Speech/Feeding therapy when she was 1 month old due to her sucking skills. With her eating problems and allergies and GERD they assigned a nutritionist to us, to document her growth and discuss foods she could eat. Failure to thrive children can also qualify for nutritionist and children whom are not eating properly for their age, baby foods chewing etc.

Inactiveohh .. thanks.. very informative! i am not sure if i could qualify for anything like that though.. maybe i could if i tell them that i feel like i cant find a diet for him that he can tolerate. though honestly i am not sure yet if its his diet or just an imature system… but, i just have a gut feeling it is something in his diet causing his constant reflux and sleep problems..
soo i would love to get involved in something like that..so i just look up early interventions online for my area.. i guess right? or maybe i will just call my insurance company and have them find me a ped. nutritionist.. i wonder if you need a referal though!?

InactiveThrough EI the cost is based on your annual income since it is state funded. The good thing about EI is they will come to your home a do a fully evaulation including developemental, occupational etc whatever you feel is needed. A peds Nutritionist through insurance may not be covered unless it is reccommended by your Peds MD but it really depends on what your insurance covers.
