InactiveHi there! Long time no speak. Not sure if you got my email, but was
wondering if you could send me the info on that OT you had mentioned – I
think we need to call her about Marisa’s continuing feeding problems,
texture issues and pickiness are getting even worse… Hope you and
Matthew are well… Thanks!

InactiveSorry Karen — I am actually in Spain so my access sucks and my email sucks most! I have to email my friend because i no longer can find Stephanie´s number but i will hopefully get it in the next few days and will email it to you.
There are a couple of things you can do anyway – the whole process for EI has to take less than 45 days… that means that all the evaluations have to be done and there has to be a meeting to determine if and what services Marisa should be getting. It may be worth going through them.
Another thing you can do is your ped can write you some prescriptions for feeding therapy, maybe once a week or so and recommend a feeding therapist that they work with or you can find one that takes your insurance – my ped i know has a list of feeding therapists but he never gave it to us because they are all in the city — worth asking your ped for a recommendation
Finally, you can go self pay which we did for a few sessions with Stephanie. If you want to know if she thinks there is a problem with Marisa´s feeding, you can schedule something around her mealtime maybe and see what she recommends??
My friend has just moved to a new home yesterday… so hopefully she has email all set up… otherwise i will give her a call on sunday to find out Stephanie´s phone number and agency

InactiveNo need to apologize Thais! That would be great if you can get it for me in a
few days. Do you mind if I ask how much it is to self pay? Just want to figure
it all out before we decide what to do – we may go that route at least for a
few sessions… Thanks again – hope you guys are enjoying Spain.

InactiveHi Karen! I know this thread isn’t directed towards me, but my husband and I both worked as Service Coordinators in the EI program for a while. (Your liaison in setting up all the therapies) It is definitely worth getting a free evaluation. It can help you decide if you want to go with your state’s services or do private therapy.
I am not sure if you’ve already been through EI evaluations…so I’m sorry if I’m butting in, but I just wanted to let you know how highly I think of the EI program!
One of the OT’s I used to work with was the first person I called when Sarah was soooo fussy. (before we figured out it was reflux, I had some concerns of sensory issues) Even though we never had Sarah evaluated, she was such a great resource person. Good luck!

InactiveThanks Amy – we likely will call EI very soon. Marisa just got her third eye
tooth this morning and is barely eating as such. Thais – as soon as you can
get that name/number to me would be great, thanks!

InactiveThais – were you able to get the name/number? Also, I heard about
Matthew’s surger – how is he feeling? Hope you guys are well.

InactiveYes, sorry. Her name is Stephanie Bronstein. Her phone number is 516-6416769
Just tell her that you know me and Matthew and in case she does not remember tell her that we are Julie and Ella’s friends (Julie is my friend and Ella is her daughter, whom Stephanie was helping until last week because they just moved next to us!!).
Cannot remember anything about self pay and how much it was… but maybe you guys can talk and she can tell you if you need to go through EI
Matthew is doing great post surgery (not eating anything unfortunately but we are hoping that it was just the periactin wearing off :-))

InactiveThanks Thais – I’ll call her today and tell her that. So glad to hear that
Matthew is doing well and I hope he starts to eat some again soon. Are you
still in Spain or back in Westchester?

InactiveBTW – plan to call Stephanie this weekend I think. Just have to get DH on
board (who keeps clinging to the hope that she’s just being a normal picky
baby/toddler and will eventually come around). We had her 15-month visit
yesterday and she’s continuing to grow well but getting pickier and pickier…
