Oh, the ups & downs of outgrowing reflux … teething sucks, totally set us back.
I first tried to give Nathan b’fast at 8:30a. He wanted nothing to do with it. I told myself I’d try again at 9a, and if he wasn’t intereseted that would be it until lunch. No Baby Einstein either, which is they only thing that’s been getting him to eat the past week. So at 9a, he ate about 1/3 a container of Yo Baby, and 3-4 bites of toast with cream cheese. Then stopped and made it clear he wanted out of the chair. He started dropping toast on the dog, which stuck to her back b/c of the cream cheese.
Anyway, I put Nate on the floor, where he played with his learning table (no legs on it now, as it’s safer since he still has that dang cast on his leg). As I was wrapping everything up, I decided to offer him some toast while he played. He ate nearly all that was left this way. Then we moved onto the yogurt, which he finished while standing up holding onto a kitchen chair. Took a few bites of pureed pears this way too. So all-in-all, he had a pretty decent b’fast.
The kid just doesn’t like eating. He’ll do it if he’s distracted. My mom & grandmother tell me not to worry, we can break the habit of eating in front of the tv when he’s a little older and I can reason with him. But I worry about the long-term behavioral implications of this. The worst of the teething is behind us (this time), but he’s still refluxing way more than before those teefers started pushin’ thru. I HATE those awful wet burps, followed by coughing. Just sucks.
Mostly just a vent. Would love to hear anyone’s thoughts ….
