Thomas the Train recall

For all of you out there with older children…….

There has been a recall on the battery operated wooden Thomas the Trains and some track b/c of possible lead in the paint. I went into panic this morning after I heard this fearing we were going to have to get rid of ours.

I guess it is only the wooden items that are of concern??? We have a plastic battery operated James and coal car that looks just like one of the pics in the link….

Yes, it’s only the wooden ones, and only if they were purchased between 2005-2007…

I’ve got 9 of the recalled items…we potty trained DS#2 with Thomas items as “prizes” so this wipes out about half of his train collection. Since they were packed away until the basement is finished anyway, I’m waiting to do anything about it until I get some specifics about how they are replacing them because I don’t want to end up with a bunch of weird stuff (like 6 “cars” and 1 “train” when I send in 4 “trains” and 3 “cars”).

All of the ones we have are metal, but the paint chips off so easily, kinda makes me nervous. But, I think they are okay so we’ll keep them for now.

I know what ya mean about replacing them though Mel, if your son is like mine, he has them memorized and has his “favorites” so ya just can’t go messin around with trying to replace Thomas with Percy or just a coal car! Come on now, this is serious business!!!

I just went into panic though this morning when my DH called me b/c he heard it on the news. We are planning on putting our house on the market in the next couple of weeks and that was the only real toys I was going to keep out, the trains and his track! Heck we have buckets of toys and I swear we could get rid of them all and he would never notice!
