Inactivei am hoping to take the kids to a small amusement park this summer. either i need to leave sylvia home with someone, or i need to get a cute little “leash” to keep her close to me so that i will not be worrying constantly. have any of you used one of these and did it work well? i saw some that look like an animal backpack that the child wears. i thought something that looked like that might be less offensive to other people.(i know that some people hate the idea of these) i know i shouldn’t care what other people think, but it still do—-guess i need to work on the self-confidence thing!LOL!

Inactivefunny you bring this up. I was just telling Dh the other day we needed one for Seth at the mall. Mind you, in my before kids days, I was one of the ones that stared and made comments about how could anyone put a child on a leash but now I that I have Seth, I am singing a different tune. They can just get away too quick. The one I like is a little bear from Eddie Bauer. They have them at Target. One of my friends received this at a baby shower and I thought it was so cute….
Some people may stare but at least you will have some peace of mind that she won’t wander away.. Also, I got lost/seperated from my group at Six Flags when I was visiting with a girl scout troop when I was seven or so. I remember to this day how scary it was for ME!!!!

InactiveI’ve used them and I was a little embarrassed at first but it sure beats losing your child in a crowd.

InactiveI remember seeing this one thing that was a ladybug or something that you actually hook on the child and you have a transmittor or something that allows you to know where the child is…pretty high tech, sorry I don’t have a link, but maybe something to think about if you don’t want to do the traditional “leash” route.

InactiveOne big lesson I have learned since having Sarah is not to judge people for the things they do with their children. I have had to eat my words too many times already! I would use what you feel comfortable with and rest easy that those people “staring” will one day learn how valuable a leash can be!
Good luck! Hope you find one that works for you!May 9, 2007 at 8:36 pm #32751Anonymous
InactiveI actually think those little bear/backpack leash things are kind of cute. If it’s going to make you feel comfortable enough so she gets to go with you on your trip, then it’s a good idea. Much better to have a few people stare, and know that she’s safe!
We haven’t actually bought one yet, but I’ve been giving it serious thought. Talk about eating your words – I used to say “oh, I’ll never do that!”
