I have a problem!! Eden absolutely hates to be bathed!! It has got to the point that if i even take her into the bathroom, she goes crazy!! I don’t know what has happened cause she used to love it up till 3 months old! Does anyone have any tips, cause it has become a seriously stressful time for us?!! I really hate to see her so upset (tears and everything! )

Hi there,

We have the same problem with my son (4 1/2 months now). He used to like baths and then one day said ‘I dont think so mom.’ What’s worked wonders for us is putting the shower on in the bathroom and closing the door before we bring him in. Gets the bathroom really steamy. Then we turn it off and fill his tub with tempid water and bring him in already undressed. Dip a toe in the water first, rub some water on his back, and then slowly drop him in. He starts to whimper a little at that point but we bought this bath toy that’s a sponge/washing cloth type thing in a duck shape. When you squeeze it, it quacks like a puppet. He loves it and it distracts him. Singing with him helps too. And of course, we go at hyper speed.

Hope some of these tips are helpful. All kids are different but maybe it will work for you if you haven’t tried already.

Hey – I’ve heard thats common for a lot of children, guess its an

awareness thing . . . something small happens that makes them

uncomfortable . ..water in the eyes, waters too hot/too cold, loud noise of

the faucet. . .I don’t think it takes much unfortunately with some lo’s. I’ve

heard just wait it out and give sponge baths for the time being – or fill

the water up very low and sort of half bath/half sponge. Maybe go back

to the sink routine if that was something you used to do? Have you

changed anything lately that may have set the cycle in motion?

Everything is exactly the same as it always was!! one day she thought having a bath was funny, the next she was terrified! I have only been sponging her most of the time and only giving a bath when she absolutely needs it!!
