I have another question regarding my son Asher who is 5 months old.

He is doing this new thing where he will clench his fists with his arms out (his body is like a T), his eyes get wide , face reddens, he makes really long grunting sounds and seems really focused until I call his name and he seems to snap out of it. He doesn’t seem to be in pain. Meds were just upped 2 days ago. It seems to me as if he is trying to stop refluxing. ????

I feel like I am going crazy….that my dr. and friends think I am a hypochondriac and that no one takes me seriously about all of Asher’s symptoms. I just want to scream and cry lately. When will he grow out of this????

I am NO expert and pretty new to the reflux game but it sounds to me like Sandifer’s syndrome which basically is a neurological way that infants deal with pain. My daughter showed symptoms and it was really scary(looked like a seizure)and nobody would listen to me or even knew what I was talking about. Even scarier.There’s a lot of ignorance out there about reflux Bummer for me as a first time mommy who basically got all of my info from these great gals here! I would go to http://www.marci-kids.com and look it up. They have a great explanation of it and diagrams too and also go to the introduse yourself section of the forum and scroll down Laura’s(hellbennt)intro. There’ s a TON of great info there.

You’re not crazy!!!! It’s so frustrating when people just don’t know any better and are soooooo critical. Yuck. Hang in there, and like I said, this is just my mommy guess. I’m praying really hard every night that Kate grows out of this SOOOOOOOOON!!!!!!!

Caden has done this exact thing! I’m not sure if it’s reflux related or maybe gas? I also thought maybe he was frustrated about something, because he does it sometimes and then seems fine like nothing happened. They make all kinds of sounds/gestures as they get older, so sometimes it is difficult to tell if they’re just experimenting or if they’re uncomfortable or what! I hope you get it figured out soon. Let me know if it subsides with the increased meds…that would help me know if it’s reflux related or not.
