Hi everyone,
Well Michael turned one on Feb 12. I have another gi appt on March 3rd. At his 1 year well baby check up my ped said to try milk and see how he reacts. I also wanted to go into the GI with a reaction rather than have them tell me to try it and make another appt which is what they said we would do back in Dec. Well we tried milk… he did ok. We tried some more milk (with meals) and some cheese next day…. he did ok but was refluxing a little while in bed. We tried yo baby yogurt… and again ok. Yesterday I ate some cheese at dinner and today he had some milk. Tonight he is gagging, full on reflux, vomited and has terribly foul gas and loose stools like when he was 8 weeks.
My questions are two…. 1) can the dairy “build up” in his system and give him a delayed reaction? 2) could the dairy in my diet give him a problem but not give him a problem when giving the dairy directly to him? For instance maybe the way my body processes the proteins and passes them to him is what is giving him the problem?
I am confused and so sad that my happy little guy is feeling miserable again. I actually began to believe that we were outgrowing this, but I guess not. Any help and replies will be GREATLY appreciated!

We were told start with cheese for a few days then go to yogurt, then milk if all is well. Milk is the hardest for them. On the breastfeeding thing, I am not sure. It could have been overwhelming getting dairy from you and direct.

So, I’ve read several moms on her posting about how they went back to milk with their mspi babies at a certain point and made it a month or two and then the symptoms came back again. You mgiht be fine with just yogurt or cheese, as the proteins are more broken down in those foods.
February 25, 2006 at 7:59 am #2440AnonymousInactivethanks for the replies. I am going to clear both of our systems out again and start with the yogurt only since he seemed ok with that. However now I am very confused as he sot a 101.9 fever last night. Can this also be a reaction or is this a tummy bug?
February 25, 2006 at 10:52 am #2456AnonymousInactiveWhen I first read your post I was thinking that it sounded like he was sick. So when I got down to your second post where you say he has a fever, it makes more sense. I’ll bet he just has a bug. I agree with these ladies though, milk itself is the hardest to digest. I would probably clear your systems and go slowly starting with hidden dairy first, cheese next, then yogurt and finally milk.
February 25, 2006 at 1:23 pm #2470AnonymousInactivethanks everyone. I have gotten to the bottom of things. He is having a reaction to a vaccine he received at his 1 year check up 2 weeks ago. One of the shots says that a reactionwill occur two weeks after if they get one at all.
We are still going to start from square one after a couple weeks of clearing out the systems. I think I did too many things at once. oops!
