InactiveAll of my kids have done this. Myles even knows how to do it via the remote.

They do sell items to block the tv buttons. I think I’ve seen them in the one step ahead cataolg, but I just put a heavy ottomon in front of the tv so they couldn’t reach the buttons. It was just the right height to block the buttons but not obstruct our view. Maybe you have something around the house that you can use. I’m known to rearrange furniture in order to baby proof my house. It make look funny but it’s cheap, and it’s temporary.

InactiveARG! We don’t have the TV button problem, only because it’s up high, but I am constantly pulling Ben away from the fire place, the computer cords, the dog food (he loves to eat, by the way). He even smiles at me and laughs when I tell him “no.”
I’ve even tapped him on the hand when he gets into the dog food, and now he will go over, get some, and tap himself on the hand!!!! So, if you figure out something, let me know!!I told dh, we need one of those fences you can put up in your living room and just corral the kids into!

InactiveI didn’t want to buy the $15 item “made” for this problem so a friend suggested something else. It is those plastic picture frames that are one piece and kind of shaped like an “L”. The smaller part slides under the TV and the opening where the picture would go covers all the buttons. It has worked PERFECTLY for us!!! I got mine at Wal Mart for a dollar! The ONLY problem with that is you have to always know where the remote is because it’s not very convenient to move the frame to turn off the TV. Sarah walks around with the remote all the time so sometimes it gets lost.

Christine~ i do put the ottoman infront of the t.v, and guess what? he pushes that away too!! it would have been perfect.Naomi~ that is sooooo funny!Amy~ i am trying to picture what you are talking about.. but cant. maybe if you could send me a pic of it off the walmart website or something? that would be great..i’d be on my way tomorrow! 😉and tonight we were @ my brothers.. all my family. and shane would not stop turning off the t.v on all the adults! they were getting upset! haha.. its getting out of hand.July 29, 2007 at 7:56 pm #40100Anonymous
InactiveSarah, that’s such a good idea.
I’ve seen those picture frames and I can see how that would work. Lauren, I hope you can find one. I think it’s the kind of frame where you slide the picture in between the two pieces of clear plastic, and there’s a flat piece of plastic on the bottom which lets you stand the frame up on a table. So if you look at the frame from the side it’s L-shaped. I can’t believe he pushes the ottoman out of the way. He sure is determined, and strong!

InactiveMy digital camera is not working so I can’t take a picture but Christine’s description was very good! If you look at it from the side it definitely looks like an “L” shape! Good luck! Let me know if you find them! If not I can get you one and mail it!

Inactivethanks..i think i know what you guys are talking about! I dont know if it would work, because our t.v is attatched to the bottom piece kinda. there is a part that you could slide it through.. but i dont know if the bottom piece would reach up high enough to cover the button. thanks though! i will try.

InactiveI put a TON of clear tape on the button so he couldn’t push it (but we could). He can’t really see the tape so after a while he just got annoyed and left it alone, then I took off the tape, and he still ignores it! (usually)-but the button on our tv is flush with the front of it (and the same color you can barely see the thing anyway, how do they know???lol).
