Hey There! I just want to start off by Thanking everyone here on this forum. You have all provided me w/such great information. It was truly this forum that saved my sanity and helped me be more educated on what was the best avenue of treatment for my DD. Thank You Thank You!!!
So, to give an update…Averi turned a year old on Jan. 25th. I can’t believe we made it! lol She has been doing unbelievably well. She was weened off of her EES for DGE. It’s been about a month now and she’s doing GREAT! Her eating still comes and goes. But it took me several long months and tons of 2nd guessing to come to the conclussion that she is a HORRIBLE teether. She just does not tolerate pain well at all & therefore doesn’t eat. She has a mouth full of teeth needless to say(She only has her bottom cuspids left to go). She isn’t walking yet, but she’s always done everything on her own schedule. :)lol We haven’t weened her from the prevacid yet. I figure we’ll look into weening once her final teeth are in. Also, we haven’t started up her vaccines yet. So, I’m possibly going to keep her on the prevacid while we start vaccinating. I just don’t want to take any chances! She’s just grown up to be a very sweet, lovable, opinionated one year old!!!Update on DS…I’m sure many of your remember me posting about my DS’s recent food allergy results. The 1st allergist said that he didn’t agree w/RAST testing and that basicly my DS was NOT alllergic. So, we are currently waiting for a 2nd opinion. The appt. is scheduled at a childrens hospital w/a ped allergist. It’s not until April though, so I’m sure I’ll update at that time. Shortly after his initial diagnosis we cut all offending foods out of his diet and TBH, a lot of things changed for him. He started having less frequent bm’s(never diarrhea), sleeping through the night, eczema went away, no more red ring around his anus(which happened quite often), his shiners lessened. He was still a hyper little guy, but that’s probably normal. 🙂 However, since then we have reintroduced all foods in order to gaurentee accurate results when he’s tested again in April. Since doing this, almost every single symptom has reappeared. Is that just a coincidence?Anyways…I check back in now and then, but have been busy w/the kiddos. 🙂 I just wanted to take the time to say…”THANK YOU!”February 25, 2009 at 9:47 pm #61282AnonymousInactiveSo nice to hear an update…and a GREAT one too! Yay!! Hope things continue to improve!
February 25, 2009 at 9:54 pm #61284AnonymousInactiveAmber that is great news. My big question for you is about the allergy testing you are going to be redoing with your oldest…. What type of test are they doing? If it isn’t biopsy type stuff you should be able to cut those foods out prior and still have him test positive. I say this only b/c of the huge change you saw when the offenders weren’t in his system. I know Cooper has never directly ingested eggs (only got it when he was in my belly and maybe the first 3wks of his life while I was nursing) and he so very much tested positive for his egg allergy both skin prick and RAST…. so if those are the tests you are having redone, then I would go ahead and cut back out the offenders and bask in the wonderful child he is when those foods aren’t bothering him… That of course is just what I would do… Best of Luck… will look forward to the update on that.

Beth~No biopsies…just skin prick, I believe. I kind of figured that if he’s allergic then no matter what the test will show that. But, I guess deep down I’m nervous that it won’t if we don’t have the foods in his system. My concern too is that his reaction levels on some things weren’t that high and so if the food isn’t in his system then it wouldn’t react. I know, I’m positive that I’m wrong, but it’s like I don’t want there to be a spec of doubt, you know?! It’s so hard too, for him, not eating all of his favorite foods. That’s probably another reason why I’ve talked myself into letting him have some of those foods again. I’ll definitely keep everyone posted! -
